Dubai is already home to the longest urban zipline in the world, jumping over Dubai Marina and astonishing people from its 44-story height. Now it's time for Ras Al Khaimah to break that record with Punk'd, the world's longest urban zipline. Punk'd is 2.83 kilometers long and is less than 28 soccer pitches. This record-breaking zipline officially opened in February 2018.

Jebel Jais's New Flight Zipline

Ras Al Khaimah is located on the border with Oman, north of the United Arab Emirates. The incredible zipline Jebel Jace flight soars to the top of the Jebel Jace Mountains, 1,680 meters above sea level. Any healthy person can use the Zipline if they weigh between 45 kg and 150 kg and are over 120 cm tall. The RAK zipline holds the Guinness World Records as the longest zipline in the world. The former Guinness World Record holder for the longest zipline was Puerto Rico's Monster Zipwire, a 2.5-kilometer mammoth line. What makes the RAK zipline so unique is the mountainous region, which is a clear difference from the many urban Ziplines out there. The longest zipline in the world can accommodate up to 100,000 people annually and inspire them with fancy flights. This is a nervous sport as it connects to a zipline and zooms from the top of the UAE's highest mountain to its foot at a speed of 150 miles per person. Athletes can fly face down on two lines running side by side, allowing friends and family to fly together. The zipline can accommodate a new set of zipliners every 5 minutes.

Your Zipline Adventure on the World's Longest Zipline

Jebel Jais is about an hour's drive from Dubai. Upon arrival at Ras Al Khaimah's zipline, the zipline kit will be installed and safety instructions will be given at the zipline welcome center. Then move to the top of a launch pad at 1,680 meters above sea level, which resembles a giant falcon. The huge hawk platform was carved on the side of the highest peak of the UAE. It`s an impressive sight – there are two cables hanging from the launch platform that drops down to a suspended pad which is where riders land before they are dropped off down the mountain. And then you`re off on the 2.83km trip which takes you through speeds of 150 miles per hour. You`ll arrive at the suspended platform that`s made of transparent Lucite, stationed 80 meters above the ground. From this platform, you will enjoy an additional 1 kilometer of ziplining, which takes you to the foot of the Jebel Jais Mountains, where you started. As a successful zipliner, you`ll get the official Jebel Jais flight certificate, and get your picture taken against the Jebel Jais Wall of Fame.

Zipline Adventure - Safety is a Priority

You`ll be provided with the safety equipment you`ll need along with a handy backpack with space for your camera and tools and enough water for the trip. Be sure to wear good quality gripping shoes and body-fitting athletic clothing – nothing loose and flappy. Do not wear shorts as the sharp wind and the sands borne on it can scrape your skin. Note that the Jebel Jais zipline authorities will check your clothing and gear and will not let you do it if your clothing or shoes don`t make the safety cut.

The World's Longest Zipline Establishes Guinness World Record

The very first person to try the new record-holding zipline is none other than the son of RAK`s ruler, Sheikh Ahmad bin Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi. He was the first to try the 2.83km Jebel Jais Flight Zipline before the public opening took place, taking the first plunge before the Jebel Jais Mountain Zipline was officially certified as the world`s longest by the Guinness World Records.

The Origins of the Jebel Jais Flight Zipline

The world`s longest zipline comes to the world courtesy of the Ras Al Khaimah Tourism Development Authority (RAKTDA) in partnership with Costa Rican Guillermo Quesada, ToroVerde`s general manager. He set the world's longest zipline in Puerto Rico before establishing the current record holder in Ras Al Khaimah, United Arab Emirates.

Jebel Jais Flight Zipline - Challenges

ToroVerde said the terrain of Jebel Jais is very different from that of Puerto Rico. There were some challenges with this. The mountains of Puerto Rico are lush and have many rivers and waterfalls. Jebel Jais is mostly dry and rocky. Also, Jebel Jais's zipline is 600 meters longer and faster than that of Puerto Rico.

It was planned to have planned to determine the weight of the Zipline exceeding 6 tons itself. The planning stage is related to broad feasibility research, comprehensive investigation, master plan, breath test and simulation to test the concept. A powerful anchor hole was perforated to the Hajar Mountains to maintain sustainable environmental practices during construction. It took six months to complete this task. One major issue was how to place the start platform on the end of the empty ABYS or the face of the cliff. This very necessary boost for Ras Al Khaimah Tourism

RAK is not as well known as her sister Dubai. The world's longest zipline at Jebel Jais can help fill this gap. RAK has set an ambitious goal of attracting more than 1 million visitors through the zipline by the end of 2018.

The zipline not only attracts tourists but also helps to showcase the natural beauty of the Jebel Jace chain. The idea behind the Zipline project is to protect this exquisite landscape for future generations. Ziplines have two appeals. It's an experience of riding face down in the pose of a superhero famous for the length of the adrenaline addict's green flag and the speed of 150 mph. RAK is now witnessing the arrival of the biggest visitor ever, and everything is ready to try Jebel Jais Flight or witness an amazing zipline adventure. Jebel Jais Flight is steadily incorporating RAK into large-scale adventure tourism on a global scale.
